The Old Homestead is quiet and serene. It is a delightful shady retreat that is such a refreshing place to come back to after a day of hiking in the City of Rocks National Reserve or Castle Rocks State Park. The front porch has a lovely cool breeze blowing in the summer.
I stayed at the old homestead for three nights, in my opinion this is the best place to stay in the almo area. House is beautifully restored and emacualtly maintained. The location was great, right in the center of the little town of almo, but also very private, surrounded by picturesque pastures and iconic cottonwood trees. My time here flew by, I would definitely stay here again. Totally worth it!!
The review by Dow Williams has to be of a different place than this one listed. I have been here many time. The lady that owns this is the sweetest woman I have had the pleasure of meeting. They also do not own dogs. Many people in the community own dogs but not this lady. The homestead is very clean and well kept up. It does have a wood stove in the "homestead". I absolutely love this home and the family that owns it. I know many people that will say the same. I am very heart broken anyone would say suck horrible and untrue things, if they are truly speaking of the Old Homestead. I am for sure that they must be mistaken! I would highly recommend it to anyone who was looking for a very nice place to lay their head at night. Very nice people and ranching community! 5 stars all the way around!

Beautiful place! Great yard and front porch in the shade. Love having a full kitchen. Very much enjoyed our time here. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.
Bring a camera. Nearly every morning (early) while out walking, we see deer migrating from the upper to lower field.
If you want to escape the city life and have an amazing time with your family, this place is the place to go. I appreciate all the wonderful moments I have had with my family there. The owner is amazing and goes above and beyond. I look forward to going back.
